April Fool!

07/04/08 | by Jeff [mail] | Categories: News

Just in case anyone was in any doubt, the pink infrared-proof coating that I mentioned on the 1st of April was an April Fool's joke! The clue was in the name: Polar Foil.

Fortunately for our neighbours, the building still looks like this:

Energy-saving coating

01/04/08 | by Jeff [mail] | Categories: News

We have just finished a major improvement to the building which we hope will cut down energy usage by around a quarter. The building is now coated in an unobtrusive layer of Polar FoilTM, a complex nanoparticle sandwich with less than 1.5% emissivity and greater than 99.8% reflectivity in the 8 to 12 μm infrared band. This means that hardly any heat will be radiated out from the walls in winter, and in summer we will require very little energy input to keep the building cool.

You can see a photo of the building before the Polar Foil treatment on the About page.
